Kelly Leonard, Creative Advisor for The Second City; Anne Libera, Director of Comedy Studies, Columbia College Chicago and The Second City; Joshua Klayman, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Behavioral Science, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

  • Description: The Second City’s roots can be found at the University of Chicago, where founding Artistic Director Paul Sills helped form the first professional improvisational company, The Compass Players. Over the course of 2016, The Second City has been working with faculty from the prestigious Center for Decision Research at the University of Chicago’s Booth School to launch a partnership that will look at the field of behavioral science through the lens of improvisation. This panel will discuss how this collaboration occurred, the areas of study that will be researched and some of the early discoveries that this new ensemble has been making.
